AMERICAN LEGION JUNIOR PREP

Junior Prep is American Legion baseball for players who do not turn 13 before April 30 of the current year.  It is baseball played on regulation sized fields (90 foot bases, 60’6” mound).  It is intended to be a feeder program to the American Junior Legion program and ultimately the American Senior Legion program.  It is preferred that recruiting boundaries for players match the Junior or Senior Legion program in your area, however, it is not required.

Currently there are 6 teams from the Lehigh Valley that participate in the MBC League which consists of a total of 16 teams that cover Lehigh, Northampton, Monroe, Montgomery, Berks and Chester counties.

Schedule: The league is broken into a North and South division and teams play within their division twice and the other division once.  There will be 22 games this year based on number of teams.  Games are mostly played Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.  With the longer travel designed for weekends.  There is an All-Star game and a double elimination playoff involving the top 8 teams.  Either 2 or three advance to states from that play-off to face off against teams from all over eastern Pennsylvania.

Future: It appears as though the western part of Pennsylvania will be fielding teams in the near future.  As for the Lehigh Valley area as the number of teams continues to grow so does the possibility of having our own Lehigh Valley League.
